A real example of prostitution linked to the trafficking in human beings 1. Moldavia
(Moldavie on the map). September 1998. Lyana answers a classified
ad proposing a job abroad. She goes by car from Kisinau to Jasi, and
then continues by train to Stul Mare in Romania (Roumanie on
the map). 2. Lyana
crosses the border between Romania and Hungary (Hongrie on the
map) with men and women. In Hungary, Lyana is locked in an apartment
for 20 days. Her passport is confiscated. 3.
In the Czech Republic (Tchéquie on the map), Lyana is
sequestered for 30 days with 7 other young women. 4.
Lyana illegally crosses the Austrian border. In Austria (Autriche
on the map), the border Police arrests her: she is convicted and spends
three months in prison. 5.
Nice (France), April 1999, Lyana is forced to prostitute herself for
a year. In April 2000, she runs away with the help of a friend. A real example of domestic slavery April 1998. K.G. is Ethiopian. Through the intermediary of an employment agency, she goes to Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) to work as a housekeeper for a Saudi family. The two-year contract proposes a salary of less than 150 euros per month. From July to September 1998, K.G. works in Nice where her employers are spending their summer vacation. She then returns with them to Riyadh. In July
1999, K.G. again accompanies her employers to Nice and runs away. Her living and working conditions She works
